Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) courses

MBCT is a well researched evidence-based course that teaches core-skills in mindfulness.  Mindfulness is essentially a particular way of paying attention, on purpose and non-judgementally that can enhance the awareness of our experiences, moment by moment.  By regularly practicing mindfulness we can develop skills to be better able to manage stress and enhance well-being, confidence and positivity, even when times are challenging.  These benefits may include having more energy and feeling more relaxed and confident in general.

The MBCT curriculum is covered over eight 2-hour sessions and an optional 5-hour Practice Day. The aim is to develop confidence and skills in practicing mindfulness.  Also included is how it works, a range of practices and reflection on experiences. The group size ensures personalised support in developing mindfulness skills. Practicing at home is an essential part of the course and daily practice (30 to 60 minutes) is recommended.  Worksheets and access to recordings of the practices are provided.

The course is taught by Dr Bernadette Carelse, a mindfulness teacher registered with the UK Network of Mindfulness Teachers by adhering to their Good Practice Guidelines for teaching mindfulness.  Dr Carelse has taught meditation and yoga since 2001 and mindfulness courses since 2013.
